“Example
of Use” for Reverse Circulation:
The design capability of Colcrete Eurodrill has been a
great advantage for special projects such as one for a client working
in Hong Kong. As encountered in many countries, drilling with the use
of standard down the hole hammers (dth) is not possible due to the problems
of air being pushed in to the ground, resulting in destabilization. The
answer involved getting the air back to the surface using a triple rod
system. This enabled drilling mud to be pumped down the centre of the
triple rod system, the mud also removed the chippings exhausting on the
exterior of the rods. The annulus between the central rod and the next
rod allowed the air down to operate the down hole hammer. The final annulus
enabled the air to return to the surface without injecting air in to the
ground. The client wanted a quick system of connecting the rods as the
existing flange assembly system was very time consuming. This system required
careful design and obviously very careful manufacture to enable it all
to be assembled correctly. If this were not produced perfectly, assembly
and operation of the system on site would not be possible. Colcrete Eurodrill
design capability overcame these problems.
